Man held on bail in Fall River court after arrest on gun charges by Massachusetts State Police, Westport Police

A local man has pled not guilty to gun charges after a recent arrest.

According to police, on Thursday, the Westport Police Department assisted the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit – New Bedford Team & Brockton Team, along with the MSP STOP Team, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in executing a search warrant on Conserve Avenue in Westport.

Following a long-term investigation by MSP, a firearm-related search warrant was sought and received from the Fall River District Court.

The target of the investigation was identified as Anthony Tropeano.

At approximately 5:00 a.m., the MSP STOP Team executed the aforementioned search warrant.

Tropeano was present at the time of the execution.

Investigators subsequently recovered a Taurus .44 Special revolver with 60 rounds of ammunition.

Tropeano was taken into custody and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

According to court records, at Thursday’s arraignment, Tropeano was held on $2,500 cash ($25,000 bond) bail with a pretrial hearing scheduled for August 13th.
