FRAMINGHAM – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Framingham Chief of Police Lester Baker have confirmed that Stewart Anderson, 44, of Framingham has been arraigned in Framingham District Court on one charge of leaving the scene of an accident-causing personal injury or death after he allegedly struck and killed Julie Stewart, 41, on Sunday, May 25 in Framingham. Judge Michael Callahan set bail at $100,000 with the condition of no driving.

On Sunday, at just before 10:30 p.m., Framingham Police were dispatched to 1881 Worcester Road on Route 9 for a pedestrian crash. Lifesaving efforts were performed on scene.  Stewart was transported to MetroWest Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.  The operator of the striking vehicle did not remain on scene.

The operator was later identified as Stewart Anderson, the registered owner of the vehicle that struck the victim.  Anderson was arrested at his Framingham residence later that night. The vehicle was also located parked behind a building with significant damage to the front end.

Julie Stewart reportedly attended college in Rhode Island and has family in Middleborough.
