Man has died in Saturday afternoon shark attack off Cape Cod
A man has died in a shark attack off of Cape Cod this afternoon.
According to the Cape Cod National Seashore, at approximately 12:30p.m. on Saturday, September 15, a male was allegedly bit by a shark 300 yards south of Newcomb Hollow Beach in Wellfleet. The patient was transported to Cape Cod Hospital via ambulance.
The beach has been closed to swimming.
According to Wellfleet Police, the male victim, in his mid 20’s, was pulled from the water and provided emergency first aid including CPR. The male victim was transported to Cape Cod Hospital by the Wellfleet Fire Department, where he passed from the injuries.
The name and information of the victim is being held until proper notification.
Wellfleet PD is working with the National Park Service and the MA State Police on this investigation.
