Man dies from injuries sustained in two car crash on Route 195 in Fall River

A man has died from injuries sustained in a highway crash in Fall River.

According to Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 11:38 a.m. today, the Massachusetts State Police responded to a crash in Fall River involving a sedan and an SUV that resulted in the death of the sedan’s operator.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a Toyota Corolla was westbound on Route 195 near the 14.6 mile marker. For reasons still under investigation, the Corolla was travelling at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended a Jeep Renegade SUV that was also westbound on Route 195. The Corolla then veered into the median and struck a tree, where it came to rest.

The operator of the Corolla, a Colorado man, sustained severe injuries and was determined to be deceased on scene. The operator of the Jeep SUV was not injured.

MSP stated that the victim’s name and hometown are not being released at this time.

The facts and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by the State Police-Dartmouth Barracks, State Police Detective Unit for Bristol County, State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Troopers were assisted on scene by Fall River Fire Department and EMS.
