Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III announced that a 38-year-old man who previously pled guilty, was sentenced in the Fall River Superior Court by the Honorable Thomas Perrino yesterday to serve a State Prison sentence of 26 years followed by 10 years of supervised probation for child molestation, including Aggravated Rape of a Child by Age Difference, Assault with Intent to Rape a Child, Indecent Assault and Battery under 14, Unnatural Acts with a Child, Dissemination of Matter Harmful to Minors, Indecent Assault and Battery over 14 and Providing Alcohol/Marijuana to a Child.

In February of 2022, Shayne Medeiros resided in Fairhaven with his wife-Leslie Medeiros, a second female that he was in a romantic relationship with and several of their children.  In May of 2022, a police investigation began when two minor females (13 and 14 years of age) who were friends of one of the defendant’s minor daughters made a disclosure. The investigation revealed, that when the two minor females were visiting the defendant’s minor daughter at his home in Fairhaven, he provided alcohol and marijuana to the girls and touched them indecently.  The defendant then showed them nude photos of his wife and requested that they engage in sex acts with each other while he and his wife engaged in sex acts in the same room.  The defendant’s wife was present in the room while this was taking place.  The two girls became upset and fled the defendant’s home at 2:00 a.m. on foot.  Upon arriving at the home of the one of the victims, the mother called the police. Medeiros was arrested that evening and a search warrant was executed at his home.  Items consistent with the disclosure of the victims were recovered.

As a result of that police investigation by Fairhaven and later New Bedford police, one of the defendant’s biological daughters disclosed that she had been sexually assaulted numerous times by Medeiros between the ages of 11 and 13.  These assaults included indecent touchings and rapes that occurred in both Fairhaven and New Bedford.  In some of the incidents the defendant’s wife was present and/or participated.  A fourth minor female victim also reported to police that she was sexually assaulted by the defendant and his wife towards the end of 2019 when she was between 14 and 15 years old. The victim indicated she would be at the Medeiros’ home to babysit his children.  The minor was provided alcohol and marijuana and indecently touched by the defendant and his wife.  Medeiros also raped this victim.   A fifth female victim was also identified who indicated that the defendant would send an Uber for her to provide a ride to his home.  Medeiros provided marijuana to this sixteen-year-old victim and then engaged in sex acts with her.  Due to the age of this victim, the defendant was only charged with providing Marijuana to a minor.

The defendant’s wife, Leslie Medeiros, agreed to testify on behalf of the Commonwealth and previously pled guilty.  She will be sentenced in the Fall River Superior Court on 11/5/25.

“The sexual abuse committed against the victims by the defendant are despicable and clearly demonstrate a very disturbed mind.  Fortunately, the defendant pled guilty which means the victims will not have to testify in this case.  The lengthy sentence imposed by the Court is more than deserved,” District Attorney Tom Quinn said.
