Man collapses and dies while working at Fall River courthouse, celebration of life announced

A local man collapsed and died instantly while working at the Fall River Superior Court, according to a GoFundMe fundraiser.

49-year-old Michel Richard Poisson of Chepachet, died suddenly on Friday, August 28th at St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River.

According to an obituary, Poisson was born in Fall River and worked as an information technician for the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, where colleagues knew him for his professionalism and steady commitment to his work.

Poisson was a talented musician who loved playing, listening to, and producing music in all its forms. He also had a passion for travel and spent time in China, Thailand, Malaysia, and Amsterdam. He learned to speak Mandarin and developed a deep interest in Buddhist culture, frequently visiting the Buddhist temple in Raynham, where he taught English to the monks.

Those closest to him remembered Poisson as a kind-hearted and peaceful man. He was a devoted son who called his mother every day, a beloved brother, and a cherished uncle.

The above fundraiser has been organized by Poisson’s mother for expenses due to his death.

A celebration of Michel’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 from 4pm to 8pm at Rachel’s Lakeside 950 State Road Dartmouth, MA 02747.
