Man charged with serious physical abuse of two-month-old baby
A man has been arrested on some disturbing charges.
According to Pawtucket Police, on Wednesday, Pawtucket Police officers were summoned to Hasbro Children’s Hospital to take a report of a serious child abuse case where it was reported that a two-month-old child presented with multiple injuries to include broken femurs and skull fractures.
Detectives from the Major Crime Unit responded to the hospital along with investigators from DCYF.
Upon interviewing the mother of the child, the investigation led to the child’s father as a suspect.
The father, later identified as 23-year-old Carlos Melendez Campos of Pawtucket, was apprehended and later confessed to the abuse.
Campos will be arraigned in 6th District Court in Providence this morning on three counts of Child Abuse in the 1st degree.
