Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III has announced that a 42-year-old man pled guilty in the Fall River Superior Court to an Unarmed Robbery.

Evan Silveira, of Pawtucket, RI, was sentenced by the Honorable Raffi Yessayan to 5 years of supervised probation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Matthew Lopes and Nicole Cheney. The Commonwealth requested a State Prison sentence of 2 to 4 years.

On March 26, 2024, Silveira entered the Stop & Shop Supermarket located at 251 Washington Street in Attleboro while wearing a surgical mask, grey sweatpants and distinctive Nike Jordan brand sneakers along with a dark colored sweatshirt.  He approached the service desk and displayed a note to the clerk demanding money quickly and then fled the store with money seized from the clerk in a Nissan Maxima with a RI registration.  The defendant was stopped two hours later by the East Providence police in an unrelated motor vehicle stop.  Body worn camera from the stop revealed Silveira was in possession of money that he could not explain, a surgical mask, and a notebook with white lined paper.  The defendant was also wearing the same clothing from the robbery.  Silveira was not detained as East Providence PD had not yet received the BOLO from the Attleboro robbery.

Through police investigation it was determined that Silveira had also robbed a Stop and Shop in Pawtucket, RI the day prior, March 25, 2026.  Pursuant to a search warrant at the defendant’s home in Pawtucket, RI, police seized the robbery note and clothing worn in both robberies.  Silveira confessed to committing the robbery in Pawtucket, RI, and indicated he could not remember the Attleboro robbery due to a substance abuse issue.  Silveira, when arrested by police, was wearing the same Nike Jordan brand sneakers from the robbery.  The defendant previously pled to the RI robbery and received a 6-year sentence with 9 months to serve.
