Man, arrested after local high speed chase, speaks out
A man who led police on a high speed chase through several local cities and towns including Fall River, is speaking out.
Officers chased Justin Joseph, 32, of Providence, after he fled police in Seekonk on an attempted stop. The chase was initially stopped by police in Fall River.
According to Westport Police, the SUV was lost by police. A witness who saw the original pursuit on I-195 then called Westport PD and said he thought he was following the car he had just seen being pursued. It had a Florida registration plate.
Westport officers began searching for the vehicle and spotted it near the beach. An officer on a Police detail followed it until other officers converged near the intersection of Main Road and Hixbridge Road. The SUV came to a stop and Joseph attempted to flee from the car, but was apprehended.
According to WPRI 12, Joseph, who had a suspended drivers license and had two arrest warrants, stated that he didn’t want to hurt anyone and, since he suffers from anxiety, panicked and took off when police tried to pull him over.
Joseph is facing multiple charges including driving with a suspended license, operating to endanger, speeding and failure to stop for police.
