Man accused of kidnapping 9-year-old girl charged with child molestation
A man who was arrested on sexual assault and kidnapping charges earlier this week has received an upgrade in charges.
Authorities have brought additional charges against a Rhode Island man suspected of abducting and sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl who was grabbed after she got off her school bus.
According to WJAR, 34-year-old Luis Martinez-Romero, of Cranston, had his charges upgraded at an arraignment Friday to three counts of first-degree child molestation sexual assault. New evidence was brought to light after interviewing the 9-year-old victim.
Martinez-Romero is currently held without bail.
Martinez-Romero is accused of grabbing the victim after she got off of a school bus on Monday in Providence. The suspect freed the victim shortly after.
