Maine Police arrest two wanted in Massachusetts, one suspected of killing brother in Brockton

BROCKTON – A Brockton man has been arrested in Maine and will be charged with fatally shooting his own brother, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz has announced. 

On March 31, at approximately 2:17 a.m., Brockton Police received a 911 call for a report of a shooting inside a home at 36 Hoover Avenue. Police and emergency medical personnel responded, and located a male party who was shot in the chest. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead of his injuries. He has been identified as 27 year-old Sedrick Abreu. 

Members of Plymouth SPDU, Brockton Police, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, State Police Ballistics, and State Police Crime Lab executed a search warrant at 36 Hoover Avenue. Several items of evidentiary value were secured as evidence, and two men were arrested and charged with Accessory to the Homicide. Sirick Amado, 24, and Antonio Dejesus, 26, pleaded not guilty at their arraignments Monday in Brockton District Court. They were both held without bail pending the outcome of a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Thursday. 

As a result of the ongoing and active investigation, Massachusetts State Police sought and obtained an arrest warrant for the shooting suspect, 20-year-old Jeremiah Abreu, who is the brother of the victim. Tuesday, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the United States Marshals Service District of Maine and a Maine State Police Fugitive Apprehension Team located and arrested Abreu at a coordinated traffic stop in Lewiston, Maine. Abreu is scheduled to be arraigned on a Murder charge in Brockton District Court at a later date.

According to Lewiston Maine Police, also in the vehicle with Abreu was a male who refused to identify himself. The unidentified male was in possession of a firearm and was transported to the station for identification. With the use of fingerprint analysis, the male was identified as 22-year-old Dominic Peterson, also from Brockton.

Peterson was charged with numerous warrants out of Massachusetts to include, Assault and Battery on a Family Member, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of Ammunition without an FID card, Carrying a Firearm without a License, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License. Lewiston Police also charged Peterson with Failure to Provide Corrected Name/Address/DOB, Illegal Possession of a Firearm, and Fugitive from Justice.
