Looking for games, processions, and some Portuguese food? Santo Christo Feast begins in Fall River

Some good Portuguese food, games of chance, and two processions are scheduled this weekend at the Santo Christo Parish Feast in Fall River.

The feast will take place on church grounds at 185 Canal Street.

There will be a toy booth and bazaar booth as well as numerous children’s games in which you might even be able to win a live goldfish and many other prizes. Food such as Portuguese caçoila, bifana, and chouriço sandwiches will be available along with French fries, hamburgers, hot dogs, and popcorn. Last, but not least, who can forget some warm malassadas.

Father Gastão Oliveira is retiring in a few weeks and the parish members are looking to make this feast the most successful and memorable one yet.

The feast schedule is as follows:

SATURDAY:
6 P.M. SOLEMN MASS – presided by Rev. Gastão Oliveira, Pastor. The preacher will be Rev. Vitor Manuel Fernandes Gonçalves, Pastor of São Domingos in Lisbon.

GRAND PROCESSION OF PROMISES – after mass with the following itinerary: Canal / Ferry / Mulberry / William / Grant Streets to church.

6:00 P.M. to 11 P.M.:
FEAST ACTIVITIES with live music by the Santa Cecilia Band – Fall River.

 

SUNDAY:
4 P.M. SOLEMN PROCESSION with the following route: Columbia / Washington / William / Mulberry / Division / Broadway / Columbia Streets to the Church – with the participation of clergy, ministries of the Parish, business leaders, cultural, civic & sporting organizations.

4:00 P.M. to 10 P.M.:
FEAST ACTIVITIES with live music by the Philharmonic Bands “Nossa Senhora da Conceição Mosteirense” and “Saint Anthony”.
