Lockdown at Durfee High School in Fall River caused by issue with system police say

An issue at a Fall River high school led to a lockdown Friday morning.
According to police, Durfee High School experienced a false alarm activation of the Mass Notification System. Police stated that this triggered a brief lockdown within the school.
“We want to assure everyone that there was never any threat or danger to students, staff, or the school community. The issue with the system has been identified and is being addressed to prevent future occurrences.”
FRPD also wanted to remind families and parents that in situations like this, it is imperative not to rush to the school.
“Swarming the area can prevent first responder resources from arriving quickly. While today’s incident was a false alarm, had this been a real emergency, any delay in deploying first responders could have further complicated the situation. Your cooperation in these moments is crucial to ensuring the safety of all students and staff. Thank you for your understanding and support.”
