Locals receiving hoax calls concerning spoofed Massachusetts State Police phone number
Massachusetts State Police are warning the public concerning hoax calls spoofing an MSP barracks phone number.
Today, the State Police barracks in Dartmouth received numerous calls from people who reported that they were called by someone claiming to be the police. The Caller ID on the recipient’s phone was listed as 508-993-8373, which is the number for the Massachusetts State Police Dartmouth Barracks.
Officials state that if you receive a similar call, be advised that these are believed to be hoax calls from someone spoofing the barracks phone number.
Those who experience such calls are asked to not call the barracks to report this, as it is tying up the emergency line.
