Local porch pirate identified and arrested due to social media, police
You may remember we posted video surveillance photos of a local porch pirate. According to police, social media posts helped capture the suspect.
With the assistance of the public, the Johnston Police have made an arrest in a larceny of packages from the front porch of a Custer Avenue resident.
On November 27, 2018, a Custer Avenue resident reported a theft from their front doorstep and provided video surveillance to members of the Johnston Police that aided in the investigation. Using various social media outlets, the suspects identity was learned and she was positively identified as Miosotys Rios, 25, of 119 Silver Lake Avenue, Apt #2, Providence, Rhode Island.
Rios was taken into custody on Decemebr 7, 2018 and is being charged with one Misdeameanor count of Larceney. Rios was given a District Court summons to appear at the Kent County Court House on December 17, 2018 to answer to the charge.
The Johnston Police would like to thank the public for their assistance in identifying the suspect.
