Local police are warning of a rise in car break-ins and even car thefts.
According to the Somerset Police Department, over the past week there have been several car break-ins in which items were stolen, including cell phones and debit cards. The thieves are not only checking doors to see if the car is unlocked, but they have also smashed a couple of car windows.
There was also one vehicle stolen from Samson Ave.
Somerset Police are actively investigating these break-ins.
Some of the Somerset break-in locations include: Chili’s parking lot, Calvin Avenue, Elm Street, Moffitt Avenue, and Old North Street.
We have also been getting many reports of other area car break-ins both from residents and scanner transmissions in Fall River and throughout the Southcoast. We have also reported on a few of these incidents including car thefts in Fall River and Dartmouth.
Police advise to please make sure that your vehicles are secure at night and try not to leave items of value inside the car, if possible.
