Local mother facing nightmare as 4-year-old daughter seriously injured in I-95 crash due to alleged drunk driver; online fundraiser created

A 4-year-old child is injured and a mother without a vehicle after a local highway crash reportedly involving a driver who was under the influence.

According to the child’s mother who was a victim herself, the crash occurred at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Thursday on I-95 North in Providence near Elmwood Avenue in a construction zone.

The suspect’s Kia reportedly struck the rear of her vehicle, causing major damage and serious facial injuries to her daughter. The child is also reportedly suffering from a brain injury and other health issues.

While the driver is facing several charges including DUI, the mother is now out of a vehicle.

A GoFundMe fundraiser is looking to help with that and has raised just over $3,000 as of this writing.
