A man known for his impact on Catholic schools in Fall River, North Dartmouth, and across the South Coast has died.
Bishop Stang has announced the passing of James McNamee, beloved educator and administrator of Bishop Stang.
The school states that “Mr. Mac” impacted the lives of countless students and colleagues as a teacher, debate coach, Guidance Counselor, Director of Guidance, and Assistant Principal of Students.
Jim McNamee dedicated his life to advancing the mission of Catholic education, going on to serve as the Principal of Bishop Connolly and the Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Fall River.
One yearbook notes, “Mr. Mac would like us to remember him as someone that helped us when we needed it.” By his presence and model of servant-leadership, he made an indelible mark on our community.
According to SouthCoast Today, McNamee was named principal at Bishop Connolly in 2002 after serving as the Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Fall River from 1994 to 2002, overseeing four high schools, two middle schools, and 23 elementary schools. Before this role, he was the associate superintendent starting in 1992 and had previously worked for 18 years at Bishop Stang High School.
Services for McNamee will take place on June 19th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Dartmouth.
