A local woman saved a bunch of baby possums after their mother was hit and killed by a vehicle.
According to the Seekonk Animal Shelter, a good samaritan by the name of Kelly, who is an Attleboro resident, was passing through Seekonk early Monday morning when she saw a possum in the middle of the road that had been hit and unfortunately killed by a vehicle. As she went to go around the possum, she noticed there was movement.
Being that Kelly is an animal lover, she decided to turn her car around to double check on what she saw. Thankfully, she did. As she approached the mother, she found that there were babies in the pouch still alive! Kelly pulled them all out and carefully placed them into a shoe box where she kept them safe and covered. She dialed the Seekonk Police Station who then dispatched animal control to respond to the scene.
All 8 of the babies were rescued and are now safe and sound with a licensed rehabilitator where they will remain until they are ready to be released.

Can possums make a good pet? I have always thought them to be so cute.
