Lickety Splits Ice Cream in Westport changes hands, but owner not retiring just yet
A Westport ice cream stand has been sold after 35 years.
Lickety Splits Ice Cream is a longtime, classic roadside ice cream stand located at 719 State Road (Route 6) in Westport.
The stand is known for its large selection of soft-serve ice cream (more than 24 flavors) and hard ice cream, along with casual American food like burgers, Coney Island hot dogs, clam cakes, chili, fries, and shakes. It has that old-school ice cream stand vibe — generous portions, outdoor seating, and a simple, family-friendly atmosphere right on a busy stretch of Route 6.
The business was listed for sale in November 2024 for $475,000 and sold for $443,000 according to a real estate listing. A social media post on Sunday revealed that owner Mark Pietrzyk had found a buyer.
“Lickety Splits sold after 35 years. The original owner would like to thank all the loyal customers and employees over the years and would like to thank his family for putting up with all the crazy hours during the season, missing birthday parties, family gatherings and other outings. I am staying on to help the new owner as long as he needs me and I wish him the best of luck.”
Pietrzyk told Fall River Reporter that Kent Rudasill is the new owner. A former teacher from Portsmouth.
Lickety Splits should be open by May 1st, and things will remain pretty much the same under new ownership, according to Pietrzyk.
