“The potential reimplementation of PAYT in this city has started to take shape. That is not by accident because Paul Coogan is relying on other outlets to keep the discussion going about this topic. After claiming Fall River has been experiencing “new growth” for numerous years, where is it? None of those supposed economic gains still has not come down.

“Everyone keeps on saying trash services has to be paid for. Many residents already fund trash collection through their property taxes! The goal should be to rein in wasteful spending everywhere possible. Where is the cannabis excise tax revenue?

“When comparing this city to Swansea, the ability to pay takes center stage. According to the United States Census Bureau, median household income in Swansea two years ago recorded $116,364. Fall River’s number reported was $56,673! The more research you do to compare other municipalities they average to be six figures as well.

“Many families in Fall River sacrifice medication or food. This government continues to treat residents like ATM machines. Those machines don’t feel economic pain! Where are those substantial tax cuts promised six years ago?

“Fall River continues to add debt that is unsustainable. If this city does not change in the short term, receivership is knocking on the door.”
