“Dear [Superintendent/School Committee],

“As a parent in this district, I feel compelled to share my deep concern over recent reports of educators in Massachusetts celebrating or reacting positively to the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk. Regardless of personal political beliefs, the public expression of joy at someone’s violent death — especially by those entrusted with teaching and shaping young people — is profoundly troubling.

“Educators are role models. Our children look to them not only for instruction but for examples of respect, empathy, and professionalism. When teachers publicly post celebratory reactions to violence, it erodes trust between families and schools and sends the wrong message about how we handle differences of opinion in a democratic society.

“I also have to ask — if celebrating the death of a political figure is considered acceptable, what message does that send in the aftermath of school shootings? Would the same educators be tempted to justify or celebrate the deaths of students if the shooter claimed to have been bullied? That slippery slope is chilling, and it is not a message any parent wants our children exposed to.

“I urge the district to take these matters seriously and ensure that all staff are held accountable to standards of professionalism, both in and out of the classroom. Parents must feel confident that the individuals influencing our children are committed to fostering safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environments.

“Sincerely,
Anonymous”
