It did not take long for a recently trained K9 to pay dividends in southeastern Massachusetts.

According to the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Solari and Kilo graduated from the in house 10-week Narcotics Detection Academy on Friday at 4:00 p.m., and they assisted the FBI Metro Boston Gang Task Force and Fall River Police with a search warrant in the city of Fall River at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Thanks to the K9, narcotics were seized resulting in an arrest.

The PCSO gave Fall River Reporter some background on the K9.

“We received K9 Kilo via donation from Pacheco Kennels in Raynham on April 1, 2025, at 14 weeks of age. Kevin Pacheco identified Kilo as having the ideal traits we look for in selecting detection dogs: curious, high energy, intelligent, social, no environmental issues (comfortable on shiny/slippery floors, stairs, raised surfaces).”

Deputy Joe Solari selected the name Kilo because he was confident she would make an excellent Narcotics Detection K9.

She is certainly off to a great start.
