Local firefighters responded to two vehicle crashes overnight.

According to the department, Lakeville Firefighters were alerted to a motor vehicle crash on Rhode Island Road at approximately 11:00 p.m. last night.

Upon arrival, first responding police officers found a passenger vehicle that had struck a utility pole and knocked out power. The vehicle was off the roadway, and the damaged pole was down and blocking the roadway.

Ambulance 2, Engine 1, and Car 1 responded to the scene. One adult male was transported to Morton Hospital for medical care. A second individual was evaluated by EMS but refused transport. A third person at the scene denied being involved in the crash and refused all medical aid.

Firefighters remained on scene until the vehicle was recovered and the roadway was cleared.

Just after 2:00 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to the area of 22 Highland Road for a reported rollover motor vehicle crash.

Ambulance 3, Engine 1, and Car 1 responded, with Squad 3 responding from the previous incident. A single occupant was found to be self-extricated and refused medical treatment.

At the time of the second crash, three of the four on-duty firefighters were committed to a medical emergency. Recalled firefighters responded to ensure an appropriate response.

The crashes are under investigation.
