On Tuesday night, Lakeville firefighters paid their respects to a man that they missed during and after the service.

The Lakeville Fire Department was dispatched to 2 vehicle accidents within minutes of each other. The calls came in just after 6:00 p.m. and were preceded by a medical emergency.

At the time of the incidents, members were at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home celebrating the life of David J. “Plaz” Plaskawiski who passed away unexpectedly on January 14th at his home in Middleborough.

Firefighters scrambled to the scene in full class A uniform, providing the best-dressed response in memory.

Plaz worked for Mass DOT and would make his way to crashes on area state roads. There he would provide scene support as needed.

The Lakeville Fire Department stated that firefighters felt his absence last night.

There were no injuries from the accidents that occurred at the intersections of Route 18 and 79 and Route 18 and 105.

The collisions are under investigation.
