The Lakeville Fire Department issued a summer safety reminder after responding to two separate motor vehicle incidents this weekend in the area of Highland Road and Bedford Street.

Just before 1:00 a.m., Engine 1 and Ambulance 2 responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a female minor whose vehicle struck a utility pole. She was transported to Morton Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Just before 1:00 p.m., Engine 1, Ambulance 2, and Car 2 were dispatched to a collision between a motorcycle and a car. Fortunately, no injuries were found, and no transport was required.

As warmer weather returns, the LFD historically see an increase in traffic-related incidents, especially on weekends and especially involving motorcycles.

Summer brings more vehicles, motorcycles, bikes, and pedestrians to the roads, increasing the risk of accidents.

While the cause of the two accidents is under investigation, the department would like to make a general statement on simple safety measures that will make us all safer:

✅ Stay alert — distractions can wait

✅ Share the road — especially with motorcycles and cyclists

✅ Slow down — especially in residential and high-traffic areas

✅ Avoid impaired or fatigued driving
