Some positive developments have been revealed which will bring joy to lovers of Fall River’s carousel at Battleship Cove.

Mass Development announced Thursday that Jobs for Fall River had received a $40,000 grant concerning the carousel in Fall River.

Fall River Reporter contacted Bristol County EDC concerning the grant and the future re-opening of The Carousel.

According to Kenneth Fiola, Jr., Executive Vice President of Bristol County EDC, the “office applied for and secured $40,000 in grant funding from MassDevelopment as part of its TDI Equity Investment Grant program to partially offset the cost of 20 windows and associated work at the Fall River Carousel.”

Fiola stated that it “is anticipated that this work will be completed this calendar year. Replacement of the windows will extend the Carousel season through the winter months and help facilitate greater utilization of this waterfront attraction.”

When Bristol County EDC was asked about the status of The Carousel, Fiola noted that it “will also have a new operator for the season and an announcement and further details as to its operation will be forthcoming later this spring.”

It appears that those who love The Carousel will be able to enjoy it soon once again.
