“I’ve never won anything like this. It was totally unbelievable”; Massachusetts man wins over 1/2 million dollars on State Lottery game

A Massachusetts man was shocked after finding out he was a big winner in a State Lottery game.

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Richard Finnegan of Douglas is the winner of a $512,743 prize on a $5 bet while playing “Big Crush Multiplier,” an online-only eInstant game available through Mass Lottery Online.

Finnegan claimed his $512,743 prize (before taxes) Wednesday at the Mass Lottery’s headquarters in Dorchester. This is the largest prize won on Mass Lottery Online since its launch on July 27th.

“I’ve had the Mass Lottery app on my phone for years and then found the new games a couple weeks ago,” said Finnegan. “I’ve never won anything like this. It was totally unbelievable.”

Prizes of $50,000 or more won on games purchased online must be claimed at the Lottery’s headquarters.

To play Mass Lottery games online, players must be 21 or older and physically located in Massachusetts at the time of play. Players need to have a Mass Lottery Player Account, which can be created at masslottery.com or by downloading the Mass Lottery App on a mobile device or tablet.
