Incumbent Coogan, Gabriel “Boomer” Amaral move on in Fall River race for mayor; here is the breakdown

The citizens of Fall River have selected the two mayoral candidates that will face off in November’s election.

Incumbent Mayor Paul Coogan took on challengers Carlos Cesar, Michael Vandal, and Gabriel “Boomer” Amaral with Christopher Silvia suspending his campaign but still on the ballot.

After Tuesday’s unofficial results, Coogan and Amaral will move on.

Paul Coogan 3,076 (49%)

Gabriel “Boomer” Amaral 1,954 (31%)

Christopher Silvia 616 (10%)

Carlos Cesar 513 (9%)

Michael Vandal 88 (1%)

Voter turnout was very low. Fall River as of October 26th, 2024, had 62,521, registered voters, however, less than 6,300 voted.

In addition to the race for mayor, on Tuesday, November 4th, City Council candidates will be battling it out for 9 spots which includes Shawn Cadime, Joseph Camara, Michael Canuel, Michelle Dionne, Paul Hart, Bradford Kilby, Jonathan Lima, Luis Alves Melim, Christopher Peckham, Linda Pereira, Cliff Ponte, Andrew Raposo, Nathan Silvia, and Ricky Tith.

In the race for School Committee, the top 6 will serve, as incumbents Shelli Pereira, Bobby Bailey, and Mimi Larrivee are not seeking re-election. The candidates include Kevin Aguiar, Collin R. Dias, Randy Scott Dudek, Thomas Khoury, Marc Nathaniel Mollicone, Emanuel Moniz, Ana Cristina Riley, Shanell Joy Stewart, John Sylvia, and Shiv Thakur.
