Incident under investigation after suspect injured in officer involved shooting in Lakeville
An officer involved shooting took place in southeastern Massachusetts this morning.
According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, shortly before 4:00 a.m. a male suspect was shot during a confrontation with police on Precinct Street in Lakeville.
A Lakeville Police Officer and a Massachusetts State Police Trooper were present at the incident.
The suspect was shot and was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, where he is receiving emergency treatment. Neither police officer was injured.
A weapon belonging to the suspect was recovered.
All facts and circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation. The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office is leading that investigation.
