LAKEVILLE — The name of the victim in a fatal fiery crash over the weekend has been released.

According to the Lakeville Fire Department, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Lakeville emergency personnel responded to a serious motor vehicle crash on County Street, between Freetown Street and Heather Hills Lane.

Multiple 911 callers reported a two-vehicle collision with heavy damage, one vehicle on fire, and at least one person trapped inside. In response, the Lakeville Police dispatcher alerted the fire department and initiated a recall for additional staffing, bringing both on-duty and on-call firefighters to the scene.

Ambulance 2 and Engine 1 arrived within four minutes to find two heavily damaged vehicles in the roadway; one was involved in fire. The sole occupant of the burning vehicle had been removed by bystanders before the firefighters’ arrival.

Firefighters immediately began patient care and fire suppression. Three individuals were found in need of medical attention. Ambulance 3 and a Freetown Fire Department ambulance joined the response. All three patients were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, the region’s closest trauma center.

Engine 1 crew quickly extinguished the vehicle fire using approximately 500 gallons of water.

Two adults from one vehicle sustained injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. The adult male occupant removed from the burning vehicle, 65-year-old Timothy Crowley from Lakeville, was later pronounced deceased.

The crash was the second fatal crash Saturday night in the area.

The crash remains under investigation by Lakeville Police, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and State Police detectives attached to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
