The community is looking to help a Cape Cod couple injured in a hit-and-run crash.

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, Dave and Sandy Fitch were hit by a motorcyclist on August 14 on Main Street in Falmouth.

Sandy is in dire condition at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford.

Dave was also hospitalized with serious injuries and stated that his wife remains on life-support. He believes that Sandy is still alive due to the support from the public,

“I believe Sandy has survived because of the many prayers from all of you. Please continue to pray for Sandy.”

The couple, married for over 30 years, were celebrating Dave’s birthday when they were hit walking in a crosswalk near Estia Restaurant.

According to NBC Boston, 33-year-old David Eldredge Jr of Falmouth turned himself in to police and has been charged with “two counts of leaving the scene of personal injury, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, crosswalk violation and several other violations. He is being held on $5,000 bail at the Barnstable County House of Correction following his arraignment in Falmouth District Court”.

A friend stated a few days ago that it is unclear if Eldredge has insurance.

“The medical bills are piling up. Any help from our neighbors in Falmouth and around the globe would be greatly appreciated.”
