Human remains located in Rhode Island identified as missing Bristol County man

South Kingstown, RI – The South Kingstown Police Department has been notified by the Rhode Island Office of the State Medical Examiners that the human remains that washed ashore on May 14, 2025, in Westerly, Rhode Island, have been positively identified as belonging to Eric Wein.

Eric Wein, 31, of Mansfield, Massachusetts, was reported missing on April 18, 2025. His vehicle was found on Ocean Avenue in South Kingstown on April 10, 2025.

After working closely with the Mansfield Police Department and the Rhode Island Office of the State Medical Examiners, the South Kingstown Police Department has formally concluded its investigation.

No foul play is suspected.
