Highway rollover crash involving ambulance in Lakeville sends 3 to the hospital
Crews responded to a highway rollover crash involving an ambulance.
According to the Lakeville Fire Department on Saturday morning, an accident occurred at the intersection of Bedford (Route 18) and Main Street (Route 105). Two cars collided in the intersection, with one rolling onto its side.
Ambulance 3 was stopped at the intersection at the time of the crash. The ambulance was returning to the station from a previous medical emergency. One of the vehicles involved in the original impact then came in contact with the ambulance, causing minimal damage.
A call was put out by the ambulance for additional assistance. Ambulance 1, Engine 1, Car 2, Squad 4, and Car 1 responded to the crash. A third ambulance responded from Middleborough. Car 1 was also at the intersection at the time of the crash.
Firefighters extricated two people from the vehicle on its side.
Ambulance 3 crew, despite being involved in the crash, transported one patient to the hospital. Ambulance 1 and the Middleborough ambulance also transported patients to the hospital. None of the injuries appeared to be serious.
The intersection was closed to traffic during rescue operations.
