Heroux declares Bristol County Sheriff victory, Fall River to join MBTA
According to Attleboro Mayor Paul Heroux, he will be the new Bristol County Sheriff.
Heroux stated early this morning that he has enough votes for victory, ending Thomas Hodgson’s 25-year reign at the position.
Hodgson was appointed to the post in 1997 and had not received a challenger in 12 years.
Heroux has scheduled a press conference for this morning.

Congratulations to Paul Heroux! He has the knowledge and management skills to make Bristol County jails a model for the country. He is a great mayor that has made a huge improvements to his city and his police department. This gives me the confidence to believe he will will be a great sheriff!

I’m pleased that social justice warrior- leftist Heroux is now Sherriff of Bristol County. Most people do not realize that in our system the County Sherriff, as the only elected law enforcement Chief has much power under the constitutional doctrine of ‘least magistrate’; the police power closest to the people and elected by people. Can the County Sherriff physically block Maura Healy’s state police from shutting down the local coffee shop because someone is not wearing a mask or used the wrong pro-noun ? YES. But it rarely happens. But such power does in fact reside in that Office. That’s why subversive groups such as ACLU and other leftist activist groups sought out the goofy leftist Heroux, puffed up his resume and funded him to the max. They would never want that power to be used for the BENEFIT of the local Citizens. BTW; holding violent, criminal illegals for ICE kinda benefits the Citizens as well…don’t you think? The Cul-de-sac Karens and Facebook Moms all over Marion, Mattap. Padanaram and Westport with the Heroux yard signs found grumpy ole white man Hodgson distasteful; but if they understood what is going to be filtered into their quiet, privileged communities over the next few years; they will be begging for a real sheriff not a FAKE Sherriff. I will enjoy them reaping what they have sown.

So how long have you been this delusional and over the top with your fear mongering? Heroux is a moderate who supported his police department adding two divisions and guaranteeing new police cars every couple years and balanced budgets as mayor. Basically sheriff’s in Massachusetts are jail manages and not what you think they are. Out west they run county police departments but we don’t have that here. Matter of fact they shouldn’t even be an elected office here because it’s a management job. We don’t elect the managers of the state prisons just the county prisons.
Systems everywhere have discovered that if they rehabilitate or treat these low level offenders who mostly have substance abuse problems and mental health issues they become productive citizen taxpayers again. The violent offenders need anger management. Then when you release them make sure they are set up for success. None of this is being done in Bristol County and it’s costing us money and Hodgson keeps on losing large lawsuits.
Have you ever seen the show The Nanny? It shows the difference being punishment with respect and showing no respect. Respect work and she got better results. This was the same for all humans of all ages. Hate never works.
I have confidence that sheriff Paul Heroux Will make Bristol County corrections a model for the country. He’s that smart!
