Fall River, MA – DCR Fall River Heritage State Park will launch the new season of its popular lunchtime lecture series “Lunch Meets” with “The History of the Fall River Mills” on Wednesday, June 27 at noon.

Guest presenter Dave Jennings, Director of the Lafayette-Durfee House, will take you on a trip through Fall River’s fabled textile mills and the city’s rich industrial heritage. The program will tell the stories of the mills, their products, the people who owned the mills and the thousands who worked in them, including the City’s immigrant children… all who made Fall River the largest textile center in America, second in the world only to Manchester, England. In the 1890’s Fall River mills produced over 70% of all the calico and print cloth in America.

You can picnic in the park before or after the lecture. The “Lunch Meet” presentations occur on the last Wednesday of the month through September. Everyone gathers in the air-conditioned Visitor Center Theater.
