Here is your chance to push the plunger and bring down the Somerset Brayton Point towers

Published

on

With the Brayton Point cooling towers finally coming down on April 27th (rain date April 28th), a lucky person will have the opportunity to push the plunger and detonate the implosion.

The towers having long been an eyesore for some residents of the area and through a raffle, you can be the one to make them go away forever.

Commercial Development Company is sponsoring the raffle where the winner will be allowed to push that button. The $20 dollar raffle ticket price will benefit the Vietnam Memorial Wall that is scheduled to be built at the Fall River waterfront. You can now buy tickets.

Tickets are available through the Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Wall Committee and through the office of Joe Marshall & Associates. They will be available for pickup starting today at the office located on 982 Eastern Ave. You can contact the committee for more information through the website here. You can also contact Joe Marshall at 508-673-3300.

The Wall will be located at Veterans Memorial Bicentennial Park (1082 Davol Street), and will be an 80% scale size replica of the original Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C.

During the implosion of the cooling towers, there will be road closures, including a rolling road block on I-195 near the towers and a detour on highway 103.
