Heavy rain, gusty winds expected across southern New England
An approaching cold front will bring a 4 to 6 hour period of heavy rain, gusty winds and perhaps even a few rumbles of thunder during the day today.
According to the National Weather Service, a few showers began to develop after midnight and will become more numerous this morning. A 2-4 hour period of heavy rain and gusty winds are expected to take place between 11:00 a.m. & 5:00 p.m.
A few thunderstorms are also possible.
Due to the heavy rain, ponding and minor flooding is expected throughout southern New England.
The cold front will exit the region this evening.
