“He died doing what he loved” 33-year-old man dead, girlfriend injured after ATV collision
Authorities have identified a 33-year-old man who has died from injuries that he sustained in a weekend ATV collision.
The Rhode Island State Police, along with Exeter Fire and Rescue, responded to a crash involving two all-terrain vehicles on Liberty Church Road in Exeter, Saturday afternoon at approximately 5:24 PM.
The initial investigation revealed that three ATVs were traveling north in succession on Liberty Church Road. The first ATV slowed in the area of 87 Liberty Church Road and was struck in the rear by the second ATV. The operator of the second ATV, identified as Michael Pelletier of Exeter, and his 33-year-old passenger, were both ejected from the ATV. Pelletier and his passenger, who were both wearing helmets at the time of the crash, were transported by Exeter Rescue to Rhode Island Hospital.
On Tuesday, Pelletier succumbed to his injuries at Rhode Island Hospital.
Pelletier was described by those who knew him as a great man and friend who was loved by everyone who knew him. He also loved riding ATVs.
Friends say that the passenger on the ATV was Pelletier’s girlfriend.
The Rhode Island State Police Hope Valley Barracks and the Collision Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
