The area could see some nasty weather tonight and into mid-week.

A Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued for southern New England.

A cold front will bring the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon into the evening. The main threats with any stronger storms are damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall, which may lead to localized flooding.

The National Weather Service in Norton also issued a Flash Flood Watch for most of southern New England.

The Watch is in place from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon.

The remnants of Ida are expected to impact southern New England late Wednesday into Thursday bringing widespread 2 to 4 inches of heavy rainfall with isolated 4 to 6 inch totals. Periods of moderate to heavy rainfall could lead to urban and poor drainage flooding. However, there still remains uncertainty in exactly where the heaviest rain will fall.

Small rivers and streams currently running above normal are of particular concern.
