Grandchildren set to benefit after man hits $1 million on Massachusetts lottery ticket
According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, a New Hampshire resident has won a $1 million prize on a Powerball ticket purchased in Massachusetts for the multi-state game’s Monday, December 2 drawing that featured a $225.2 million jackpot.
Michael O’Brien of Nashua, NH won the prize after the first five numbers on his Quic Pic ticket matched those selected in the drawing. He claimed his prize on Thursday, December 5 at the Massachusetts State Lottery’s Dorchester headquarters.
O’Brien said he enjoys playing all draw games offered by the Mass Lottery and that he plans to put his winnings towards his three grandchildren’s education.
O’Brien purchased his winning ticket at Mobil, 940 Andover St. in Tewksbury. The store receives a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
In October of 2023, a Chester, NH resident also won a $1 million prize on a Powerball ticket purchased in Massachusetts. That winning ticket was sold by A.L. Prime Energy, 2083 Bridge St. in Dracut.
