Good Samaritans, Animal Rescue League Boston, Fall River Animal Control combine to rescue adventurous kitten, here is how they did it
It was a combined effort to rescue a young animal found in a difficult situation.
According to the Animal Rescue League Boston, this past week, while walking along a boardwalk in the area of The Cove Restaurant and Marina in Fall River, a couple heard the cries of a kitten coming from a steep embankment below them and contacted ARL.
Their Field Services team responded and spotted the 9-week-old kitten curled up on a rock about 20 feet below the boardwalk. The steeply sloped and rocky area was not accessible without risk of injury, and the fear was the kitten would run and hide if responders attempted to come down to his level.
After contacting Fall River Animal Control to assist, and about 40 minutes of trying to tempt the kitten into a humane cat trap that the agents had lowered to the area, the kitten finally gave in to his hunger and entered the food-filled trap.
Once back on the boardwalk, the kitten was safely placed in a carrier and transported to our Boston Animal Care & Adoption Center where he was fed and given a thorough veterinary exam. The kitten, now named Wharf, was in good overall health and has already found his new home!
ARL thanked the Good Samaritans who reported the wayward kitten and Fall River Animal Control for their assistance in rescuing this adventurous animal.
