Good deed by New York man in Massachusetts leads to big win in multi-state game
A New York man performed a good deed in Massachusetts and the decision he made next was life changing.
According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Robert Ayebale is the winner of a $25,000 a year for life prize in the multi-state Lucky for Life game after the first five numbers on his Quic Pic ticket matched those selected in the drawing that took place Wednesday, May 10.
Ayebale, a private aid, stopped at a supermarket to buy popsicles for the person he works for and decided to also purchase a Lucky for Life ticket.
Ayebale, who is from Willsboro, NY, claimed his prize the day after the drawing at Massachusetts State Lottery headquarters in Dorchester. He chose the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $390,000 (before taxes). He plans on using his winnings to buy a house and help his community.
He purchased his winning ticket at Hannaford supermarket located at 55 Russell Street in Waltham. The store receives a $5,000 bonus for its sale of the ticket.
