Gathering in Massachusetts parking lot results in shooting that kills one, injures another
LOWELL – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Lowell Police Superintendent Greg Hudon have confirmed an investigation of a shooting that occurred this morning in Lowell. One man was killed and two other people were injured.
At approximately 4:53 a.m., Lowell Police responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of a Temple located on Middlesex Street. Upon arrival, police located the victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Two victims were transported to an area hospital, where one of them, a 43-year-old Lowell man, was pronounced dead. The other victim, a 34-year-old man, remains hospitalized. A 26-year-old female sustained minor injuries and transported herself to an area hospital.
The preliminary investigation suggests that early this morning a group was gathered in the parking lot when a physical altercation occurred prior to the shooting. There is no information that the gathering was at all related to the Temple.
No arrests have yet been made and the investigation is ongoing. This case is being investigated by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Lowell Police Department and State Police Detectives assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
Anyone with information is urged to call Lowell Police at 978-937-3200.
