Gas main relocation on Route 6 to cause closures for most of this month, Massachusetts DOT says
SWANSEA – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has announced that Liberty Utilities will be performing a gas main relocation on Route 6 at Maple Avenue in Swansea. The work is scheduled to take place daily Monday through Friday, beginning Monday, February 9, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and will continue through Friday February 27. Work is anticipated to be completed by Friday afternoon, February 27. The following detour for Maple Avenue southbound traffic will be in place.

Coming from Cousineau Street
- Turn right onto Maple Street
- Turn right onto Wood Street
- Turn right onto Swansea Mall Drive
- Continue on Swansea Mall Drive to Grand Army of the Republic Highway
Coming from Wood Street
- Continue on Wood Street past Maple Street
- Turn right onto Swansea Mall Drive
- Continue on Swansea Mall Drive to Grand Army of the Republic Highway
Appropriate signage and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.
Drivers traveling through the affected area should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
