A fundraiser in honor of a Somerset girl who passed away is set for next month.

A fun day of bowling at AMF Lanes-Somerset has been announced to raise money in memory of Selina Oehmen.

Selina Oehmen died on October 15, 2018, at 10 years old after a courageous battle with DIPG, an inoperable, terminal childhood brain cancer.

Selina was a sweet and sassy girl who loved softball, Girl Scouts, arts and crafts, musical theatre, marching band, playing her cello and helping out at her church as an altar server and in the faith formation program. Selina made friends easily and was a 5th grader at North Elementary. Her smile and laughter could brighten any room. Selina had dreamed of being a scientist or art teacher someday. Her strength and grace in the face of her illness was truly an inspiration.

Selina’s parents, Ken and Michelle Oehmen, organize fundraisers throughout the year to help raise money to cure pediatric brain cancer.

The bowling event is scheduled for September 24, 2023, from noon to 4:00 p.m. Admission is $25. Among the sponsors of the event is BayCoast Bank.

In addition to bowling, if you have a JEEP, join the optional convoy for $10 led by South Coast Jeep Club to the AMF Lanes from Star Drive-In. Anyone that preregisters for the convoy will receive a special decal to showcase on their vehicle.

All proceeds will go to The Cure Starts Now in their fight against DIPG in the search for the Homerun Cure™. Registration includes 3 games plus shoes. There will be raffle tickets for sale as well as t-shirts and other merchandise.
