Freetown Police investigating after three men reportedly break into home, assault resident, steal items
FREETOWN, MA – Police are looking for the public’s help after a reported violent break-in and robbery.
According to Lieutenant Benjamin Levesque, on Sunday, at just before 1:45 a.m., the Freetown Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call reporting a breaking and entering in progress at a residence on Braley Road in East Freetown. The caller, who was inside the home during the incident, confronted the suspects and was assaulted before safely exiting the residence.
Officers arrived on the scene and discovered signs of forced entry and a disarrayed interior. While items were stolen, some were abandoned by the suspects and recovered nearby. The alleged suspects were described as three males: one described as a black male, approximately 6’00” in height with an average build, wearing a mask, and two described as heavy-set black males, one of whom reportedly had dreadlocks.
A thorough search of the property was conducted with the assistance of mutual aid, including K-9 units and the use of a drone. Despite the extensive search, no suspects were located at the time.
The Freetown Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident and thanked the mutual aid partners that responded and assisted during the investigation.
