Freetown K-9 Officer to now carry Narcan
Freetown K-9 Officer to now carry Narcan
According to the Freetown Police Department, starting today, K-9 Officer Long is now equipped with Naloxone, commonly called “Narcan,” a medication used to reverse the effects of opiate overdose. In the event K-9 Koda ingests narcotics during a search, he can be administered Narcan before being brought to an emergency veterinarian hospital for treatment. While there is always a high risk of this happening while conducting searches, it will be an even greater risk after K-9 Koda attains his narcotic detection certification. Just like his kevlar vest, Narcan is another tool to keep K-9 Koda safe.
