Free Swansea Sandcastle Festival to feature music, food, and of course sandcastles
SWANSEA 一 Town Administrator Mallory Aronstein is inviting community members to participate in Swansea’s Second Annual Sandcastle Festival next month.
The Sandcastle Festival, hosted by the Board of Selectmen, will be held on Sunday, June 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Swansea Town Beach, 560 Ocean Grove Ave. This event is weather permitting.
Community members of all ages are encouraged to register to participate in this year’s sandcastle contest. Teams can register (a max of 4 members per team) by emailing media@swanseama.gov. No experience is necessary to participate.
Master Sculptor Steve Topaz will be on-site, providing tips and tricks to participants. Trophies will be awarded to first-, second-, and third-place winners.
The free event is open to the public and all are welcome to watch the sandcastles being built. There will be a DJ playing music and food trucks on site including GG’s Pretzels, BBQ Y MAS and POPs Pizza.
Town Administrator Aronstein would like to thank the Swansea Highway Department for preparing the beach for this event, the Citizens for Citizens for donating the use of its parking lot, and Mark Johnson for donating his DJ services.
“We are thrilled to once again host Swansea’s Annual Sandcastle Festival,” said Town Administrator Aronstein. “Last year we had over 500 attendees. The event was a great success, and we look forward to welcoming community members back this year.”
Swansea Town Beach will officially open on Saturday, June 22. (Lifeguards will be staffed.)
