Four families displaced on Christmas Eve in afternoon fire in Fall River
Several families were displaced in a Christmas Eve fire in Fall River.
A call came into dispatch just before 12:45 p.m. for smoke showing from the 2nd and third floor of a 3-story residence at 939 Pine Street.
According to District Fire Chief Sean Flannery, when firefighters arrived on scene, they encountered heavy smoke on the second floor and a fire in the rear of the building.
Flannery stated that the fire was knocked down fairly quickly, but several walls had to be opened up due to the fire being inside the walls and ceilings.
4 families were displaced, according to Flannery, and the preliminary investigation reveals electrical wiring as a probable cause of the blaze.
According to the Red Cross, aid is being provided to 7 adults and 4 children.
Damage to the property is currently estimated at $80,000.
